Greenhouse gas emissions, particularly carbon dioxide, are a major contributor to climate change. As transportation is central to our business, we acknowledge our significant fuel consumption is our primary carbon emission source. While this is essential to our operations, we are committed to reducing our carbon emissions by making environmentally conscious decisions. We aim to adapt our business by significantly cutting greenhouse gas emissions, closely monitoring our carbon footprint, and setting targets to manage our environmental performance and reduce our impact.

Meet The S2L Sustainability Team
Todd Trent
Todd Trent joined us earlier this year and brings with him nearly 20 years of experience and knowledge in the temporary power industry.
Having started the industry in 2006 as an apprentice, for arguably the largest rental generator manufacturer in Europe, and then continuing his career journey through engineering & technical support, then into project and operational management…. Todd has a passion for all things temporary power related. As the industry’s requirements to how temporary power is supplied has changed through recent times, Todd has pushed to expand his knowledge with stage V engine technology, battery storage systems, etc, to guide Supply2Location Group along their Net Zero journey, with a consistent input of thoughts & ideas.
Sophie Smith
Sophie Smith studied Geography BSc at Loughborough University, specialising in the complex interactions between anthropogenic climate change and its socio-economic and environmental impacts. Modules included mitigatory strategies to reduce carbon emissions, where she examined policies, societal changes, technological innovations and renewable energy solutions.
Since Sophie has graduated, she has worked as a part of Supply2Location Group sustainability team. Within this team, they focus on integrating the socio-economic dimensions of their company and the filming industry to create sustainable solutions and practices for a resilient future.
How We Are Becoming A Sustainable Supplier
As a key supplier within the film and TV industry, we have a due diligence to provide equipment to our customers that can support productions in the present without impacting the future. Take a look at how we do this:
Food Waste
Vehicles
Our fleet is one of our greatest eco-positive achievements from the past few years; comprising only electric, plug in hybrid and Euro 6 vehicles. Due to the nature of a hire company, transportation is at the heart of our business, meaning sustainable vehicles are our only option to a greener future.
Our vehicles are available to hire, whereby HVO fuel can be requested if required, to ensure productions meet their environmental criteria in reducing their carbon footprint.
Asset Management
Every year, millions of white goods and furniture end up in landfill; S2L have begun a new asset management scheme to aim towards ‘zero waste to landfill’. Our aim is to reduce waste generated at the end of a film or tv production, providing an ethical and sustainable solution to disposal. By reusing and redistributing assets to aid new production set-ups, we are not only acting ethically, but offering a cost-effective solution to expensive set ups and purchases.
Lighting
Require emission friendly lighting? Over 65% of our towerlight fleet are emission friendly lighting; either battery or hybrid. Our battery towerlights are the most cost-effective lights whilst eliminating CO2 emissions. Alternatively, our hybrid towerlights enable a production to use either battery or fuel depending on requirements. Our diesel towerlights, along with the hybrids, can be run on HVO fuel which helps eliminate fossil fuel consumption.
Our towerlights can be installed with telemetry on request, to assist with recording real-time energy usage. Our specialists can analyse and interpret the data to provide guidance on how to mitigate high energy outputs and reduce energy consumption.
Power
Our heavily sought after Stage V Whisper generators are our most fuel-efficient power supply, helping to reduce operating costs and a productions carbon footprint. To further reduce carbon emissions, we can offer HVO as an alternative fuel source.
Our Stage V Whisper generators can be paired with our battery packs to create a hybrid generator unit. In this set up, the battery pack serves as the primary power source, with the generator running solely to recharge the battery. Compared to a Stage IIIA diesel engines, our hybrid units can reduce CO2 emissions by 170kg within a 24hr period (based on a constant 70% load).
In addition to our power options, we have trained employees to advise appropriate generator size to guarantee fuel-efficient usage. A correct generator size will result in lower energy consumption and greater efficiency.
HVO Fuel
Within recent years, S2L have actively taken steps to incorporate Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel into our plant. HVO is a sustainable alternative to diesel variants, as it is a fossil-free paraffinic fuel that produces 100% renewable diesel and reduces carbon emissions by up to 90%.
Our environmentally conscious role as a supply company is to provide sustainable options. To contribute to a greener future, customers can request HVO fuelled plant to reduce a productions carbon footprint.
We are aiming to transition HVO as our primary fuel source, not only for customers hired equipment but inter-company fuel consumption.
Sustainable Future For Our S2L Employees
Supply2Location Group duty of care goes further than our customers, it starts within the company itself. Our commitment to sustainability starts in our offices and depots, where we are making impactful changes such as installing electric vehicle charging ports and ensuring correct waste disposal and recycling.
Whilst physical changes are essential, our goals extend beyond them. We take pride in educating our employees to make energy-conscious decisions. For our drivers, we offer eco-driving workshops to promote cost-effective energy practices when transporting equipment. In our offices, we’ve educated staff on running an energy-efficient workspace, from simple actions like turning off switches to more significant changes such as choosing sustainable transportation for commuting.
S2L Newest Green Equipment - The 'GOAT' Battery Unit
As part of our continued sustainability mission to reduce our carbon footprint and meet our Net Zero goal, Supply2Location Group is actively investing in and expanding our green equipment inventory. Our newest product, the battery-only ‘GOAT’ power unit, features an IP67 rating, ensuring it delivers carbon-free energy in both indoor and outdoor environments.
The GOAT unit is a 5kW output battery unit, equipped with 100Ah storage, and designed to supply both 32amp and 16amp 230V outlets. The unit is also mounted on a frame with robust wheels ensuring manoeuvrability on site.
This newest unit is not only chargeable by a standard 13-amp household outlet, but also offers solar panel charging as an environmentally friendly option.
I am ever impressed with the proactive attitude the team take towards small innovations to make film shoots increasingly eco-friendly; the portable 5kva Voltstack the team have provided have been fantastic in providing noiseless, dependable power onset, ready to move at the drop of a slate.
